We’ve been covering tracks by 21-year-old Eden Rain for a while now at TMR. It’s her latest, ‘Sugar Baby’, that has caught our attention this time. Fresh from her debut live show, Eden Rain has developed a track that takes an interesting look at the idea of being a ‘sugar baby’. She says: “Sugar Baby was written after listening to a friend’s experiences of being a sugar baby and dating for money... I still definitely worry about my friend and want her to be safe and happy, especially as these relationships have a unique dynamic, so I wanted that to come across in the verses of the song, while the chorus is her saying yes girl! get that money! Fuck the patriarchy!”. Musically, she merges an obvious talent for melody with funky hip-hop beats that sit slightly outside of the norm. Look out for more soon. -Dan Peeke
